This letter was written by Rahim Khan explaining to Amir that he is a lot like his father. He feels sorry for Amir for having to live the way he did all throughout his life.

Appease

When Amir and Assef are fighting to the death, Sohrab tries to appease situation by pleading "Stop hurting him" (The Kite Runner 290). Sohrab is doing everything that he can to stop Assef from killing Amir. He yells stop and points a slingshot with a brass ball in it towards Assef's eye.
